“Don’t you just love farm shows?”

Growing up on a farm, it was always fun to attend farm shows with Dad. I remember going through dad’s “stuff” from farm shows before I was old enough to go. Was a big deal when I finally got to with Dad to The Farm Progress Show, which meant taking a day off school. Oh no there went my perfect attendance record, seriously.
Would offer this suggestion to dads out there, take your son/daughter to a farm show this year. Don’t miss this change to show them all the different opportunities that are in our industry.
Best part to be about going to farm shows is seeing the new iron in person. Yes like always over time these shows have changed greatly. But at the end of the iron is king. Most dealerships don’t stock lots of equipment, as more is retail sold at order.
This winter I have the honor to be a guest speaker at a few shows across the county. Coming up soon the is Peoria Farm Show in Peoria IL Dec 2, 3 & 4th. Who would have thought I would be speaker at that show now, as I remember going to that one with our FFA Chapter in Tiskilwa in mid 80’s. If you attending that show please stop and say “hi”.
You can’t talk about farm shows and not mention the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville Ky. With over 850 exhibitors will cover 1.2 million square feet of floor space it continues to be the largest indoor farm show in America. I have been there many times over the years and all I can say is WOW, you better plan on at least 2 days just to cover it all. This year the dates are February 11-14 and don’t forget to attend the Championship Tractor Pull, it’s amazing!
The 47th Annual Championship Tractor Pull
When Wednesday, February 11 through Saturday, February 14, 2015
7:30 p.m. each evening, plus 1:00 p.m on Saturday (Eastern Standard Time)
Where Kentucky Fair & Exposition Center, Louisville, Kentucky
One truth to farm shows is our times are changing and so will these shows, with all the technology in place today I believe you could see more specialize events focusing on certain topics.
Look forward to seeing you this winter.
